Parson James’ ‘Only You’ is a masterclass in simplicity

Parson James is back with this first solo track since last year’s brilliant Sad Song. His vocal is the star of the show and this show is getting a five star review.

The song sounds simple, effortless and endlessly listenable. The chorus and the way “you” is turned into such a effective hook is reminiscent of some past Swedish Eurovision entries (which is probably why I love it so much).

So it was no surprise to see the name of Hampus Lindvall on the credits for this song. Lindvall is another up-and-coming Swedish pop mastermind with credits on the last few Benjamin Ingrosso tracks and Zara Larsson’s So Good, as well as being the musical director of Larsson’s tours.

It’s time for Parson to storm the charts around the world. It’s well-deserved.
