Nicole Millar‘s going to be playing the Pandora Warehouse Party next week with Seth Sentry, Ladyhawke, The Griswolds and Ecca Vandal. That’s going to be nice. If you want tickets you can register at pandora.com/warehouse2016. Do that. And also read these questions we asked Nicole about her new music, soliciting for sessions on Twitter, her aesthetic & playing a secret show with Iggy just the other week.
HELLO NICOLE! I’m really obsessed with how crazy everything’s gone the last couple of months. Currently everything is about ‘Better’ with Sweater Beats & Imad Royal – can you tell me how that whole collab came about? It’s killer.
Yay thank you! Sweater Beats and I wrote this track in a studio in LA when I was over there in April. It came together in just a day but we realised it was missing something so we got Imad Royal to write a verse which turned out to be really cool.
The Troye Sivan tour was obviously a pretty gargantuan task for you. Are those size crowds scary? Talk me through the 10 minutes before you hit the stage.
It’s funny because I actually perform better to bigger crowds. I think it’s because I can’t see everyone’s faces so it’s less intimidating for me. If I was to perform in front of my mum and my friends I would be much more nervous. 10 minutes before I hit the stage I try to be by myself and take a moment to breathe and stretch out any nerves that are there. Maybe jump around a little hehe.

Your aesthetic is so perfect at the moment. What’s influencing you from a visual perspective?
Thank you! I’m very inspired visually. I always want my music to have a strong visual component running through it. Right now I’m inspired by pastel colours and fashion that is what I like to call street glam. I usually find inspiration on Tumblr but right now I’m influenced a lot from the movie Clueless.

Last week you played a show with Iggy Azalea – no one had any idea it was happening. What the hell was that?!
I know! So crazy! I found out the day before who the secret headliner was and had to keep it to myself haha. It was called Brandcast for Youtube hosted by Google so it was an industry event for youtubers, media and advertisers. I only performed one song but it was such a great evening & event to be part of. It was very inspiring.

This Pandora Warehouse Party is going to be an amazing, top secret vibe – will we get to hear any amazing, top secret new songs?
Hehe yes. There will be some top secret songs that will be played. I’ve been working on some new music which is all finished and ready to be released into the world so I can’t wait to test them out live.
You’ve been hard at work on Twitter reaching out to people to work with in LA – who’s your goals session whilst you’re there?
Yes I have been. I’m only going for around a week so I really want to nail the sessions and write some new singles. I went to LA in April and made some friends, so it would be great to work with them and some new people, maybe even write some songs for other artists.
