Slick production and beautiful vocals. Is that not all we really need right now? Sydney-based duo Lamalo and singer Kim Ven deliver both. They’re kind of pop, kind of electronica, but definitely soulful. They’ve done some shows around Sydney and have released some tunes, but their first EP, Sunrise, is finally coming out this month.
It was written in guitarist Yossi Cascun‘s kitchen studio alongside Michiya Nagai (on keys and production) and Kim Ven (on catchy hooks).
The same day the EP is out they will be releasing the music video for the title track, Sunrise. The band says the video will explore “various forms of duality, whether it be past and present, life and death or reality and fantasy.” I definitely want to see that exact description in video form.
This is probably my favourite track, purely based on the amount of times I’ve found myself subconsciously humming it in the car.
Sunrise EP is out April 21.
See them live
